Animals In Exile is a musical project based in Denver, Colorado, whose mission is to fill the void at the center of the contemporary psychedelic rock universe with raw, neo-psych garage ear candy.  They craft their sound with textured layers of jangled guitars, lush analog synths, hypnotic drum & bass grooves, and indelible melodic hooks that sear blissfully into the back of the mind’s imagination. Initially influenced by bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Velvet Underground, Tame Impala, and The Black Angels, Animals In Exile expand on broader psychedelia, and even their own unique sound, by continually experimenting with elements of garage rock, shoegaze, western folk rock, and eletronica.  Led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Redding Bacon, the band’s mysterious, artistic and cult-like vibe are enriched by their well-crafted lyrics and leave no doubt about the honesty and visceral nature of the music.

The band is releasing their new single, I Can Fly, along with a music video that is weeks ahead of the scheduled debut of the film Publish or Perish. The movie soundtrack features four of their songs, including the new single, which will be available on all major streaming services on August 1st.  The video will be available on YouTube and AIE social media August 2nd, and the Publish Or Perish will be released on August 18th.

“Dark and Inspirational  – When I’m about to set off on a road trip, I pick out music more carefully than the things I decide to pack in my suitcase. There’s some music — whether because of its lyrics, for its sound or for the feeling it evokes — that seems to make for the perfect road trip soundtrack. The right album has the ability to propel you farther down the road, or at least give you an illusion you’re making progress. Each passing sign, each yellow line in the road seems perfectly choreographed for the tune, marking a beat passed and one closer to the destination. Add a sunset melting through the windshield, a favorable breeze and a picture-perfect country — you’ll have a scene that’s made for inspirational movies.  Psychedelic rock band Animals in Exile offers us such a road trip”

“‘This project from Denver, Colorado, led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Redding Bacon, shows the real craftsmanship thanks to the precise and gentle approach in this work. Performed neatly, the song [Butterfly] radiates with the rhythmically engaging guitar part. The airy vocals, as if coming from somewhere far, create colorful sound patterns. The relaxed, slow pace of the track and its soothing sound are made for leisurely, beautiful mornings.”

“The band has alluded to psychedelia throughout their three releases, but here we see the band peel back the weight of the genre to share in the more organic vibe that serves as the underbelly.”
